IPad YouTube Spoofs

Over the past few decades, Apple has reinvented the way we do just about everything. Whether it is listening to music, placing a phone call or performing basic computer tasks, there is an Apple product designed to help. The latest of their offerings is the iPad. The tablet device is a sort of cross between a smart phone and a laptop. The tablet is based on touch screen technology and runs a variety of applications designed for either the iPhone, iPod Touch or the iPad itself. Wi-Fi allows the iPad to browse the Internet. It can stream media and even install various types of software. Unfortunately, many people do not believe it lives up to the hype surrounding it. This had lead to a large number of funny and controversial iPad YouTube Spoofs.

Some of these are quite funny. The Doritos iPad spoof in particular. The spot features several Doritos ‘officials’ acting much like Apple employees as they discuss their new and improve iDorito. The large iDorito chip has multi-tasting capabilities, allowing several ‘users’ to taste the chip at the same time. Even willitblend.com has gotten in on the action, producing a minute long spoof in which an actual iPad is broken into pieces and loaded into a blender. We find out that, yes, an iPad will blend.

Other spoofs simply seem to make fun of the device itself. In particular, an iPad YouTube spoof entitled “Will it fit into a manila envelope’ features an actor portraying Apple designer explaining his latest project – the iPad. He explains it as an iPhone made larger. The audience reacts less than enthusiastically. After claiming to be ‘only human,’ the designer answers the question “But will it fit in a manila envelope?” When he affirms that yes, it will, the crowd finally begins to cheer.

Several of the spoofs are actually helpful. The iPad stress test puts the unit through a variety of tests designed to see how tough the iPad really is. After using a nail to try and scratch the surface, using donuts on the touch screen and using sandpaper on the back, the actors finally pour several gallons of hot coffee directly on the unit and then wash it with soap and water. In the end, the water did the unit in, but the spoof did prove a point. While many complain that the iPad is nothing more than an iPhone on steroids, it is tougher and can withstand quite a bit of beating.

IPad YouTube spoofs are funny. They can even be educational. At the end of the day, the reaction to the iPad is mixed – as the spoofs more than adequately point out. In fact, they leave us with a question repeatedly asked in the chimp muck like rendition of ‘iPad’ set to the tune of ‘Bad’ by Michael Jackson: should I wait for version two? Regardless, these spoofs are a great way to waste a bit of time while checking out the iPad.

Funny spoof. Though the iPad is getting mixed reactions at first, I believe they have handled those negative reactions well.
