Twitter Page Profile Tips

Twitter Page Profile TipsWhether you are already on Twitter or just starting out, this post will help you tweak your current profile for better results or help you start off on the right Twitter foot. By joining the Twitter community you are joining the revolution in real talk communication. If you are already on Twitter and have exchanged tweets with other Twitters, you can see why Twitter is so special.  Other than just useless babble between Twitter friends, Twitter is incredibly powerful in so many ways. Being active in this community can open doors for a spectrum of opportunities and relationships you might not have considered were possible. Since most of the people you become friends with on Twitter will not meet you face to face, your profile is very important. Here are some tips to ensure you communicate your individuality beyond just your tweets.

  1. Think about your objective. Why are you joining Twitter? Are you a company trying to build brand awareness? Do you want to interact with your customers? Will you provide customer service via your tweets? Maybe you are an individual that wants to find a job or work opportunities. Do you want to meet people and learn about others? Asking yourself why you are on Twitter is essential to creating a successful profile page.
  2. Be real. Sometimes we want to create an online persona of ourselves that might seem cooler or more eccentric than who we really are. When I say be real, post an honest profile picture. Just a picture with yourself and a sincere smile works better than a staged picture. Statistics show, that people who display a simple picture of themselves will continue to have a steady stream of quality followers. Those people who post a “cool” picture will have a fluctuating rate of followers. The reality is most of us are not rock stars and when we see people we could relate to, we feel more comfortable to become friends and communicate with them. If you are a company on Twitter that wants to build brand awareness or interact with your customers, you can use your logo, an illustrated character relating to your company, or a relevant image that your customers can identify with.
  3. Customize your background. This tip correlates with the first tip. Depending on your objective on Twitter, you should customize the information or image you want to post on your profile background. For people who are on Twitter for fun and friendship, find a cool Twitter background that expresses your personality that shows your interests. Even a nice photograph is a good idea. If you want to promote yourself for employment, there are great examples that can display a professional picture of yourself; your contact information and displays your Linked-In page address. You should be confident enough to direct potential employers to your Twitter page after an interview. For a model or singer, choose a shot from a prior photo shoot which shows versatility and star quality. An artist might want to use one of their pieces as a background. For companies, this is your chance to really build your brand presence. You can outsource to a company that specializes in creating corporate backgrounds or have an in-house designer create a nice page with website and contact information.

These are just some important factors and of course, more ideas will come to mind as you move forward as I am suggesting. However, if you concentrate on these main points, the rest will be easy. Good Luck!
