If you logged onto Facebook today wondering why women were posting random colors as their status updates, you’re among a group of women and even more men that were completely thrown aloof as to what was happening.
After taking a moment to realize that 80% of the women among my facebook friends couldn’t all be going crazy at the same time, I did some research and got to the bottom of what was happening.
After a quick Google search you’ll get the answer. Apparently, the Facebook color meme is part of a cause to raise breast cancer awareness. This is not just going on in your area; it seems to have spread across many parts of the US and even Canada.
According to Jake Cormier, a writer for SooNews.ca, the following was posted in a forum:
“We’re having some fun…put the color of the bra you are wearing in your status (if you are not wearing one now then put the color of the one you had on last or your favorite) let’s try to get this going to spread the wings of breast cancer awareness and have some fun w/ the guys!! Send this to all your fb girls–no guys! Lets see how long it takes for the guys to question what is going on!”

It is definitely already becoming a buzz topic and I’m interested to see how far this will go. Pink, Beige, Red and even Black & White Zebra Print are sure to be memorable status updates and will definitely bring more awareness to breast cancer; along with cause some awkward moments among the Facebook community!
Come back a bit later, as I will definitely be giving an update on this!

Really now, you did a quick google search instead of just asking one of your women friends?
Lol, well many of the women were also clueless, so for a quicker response I went to Google!
So I guess the thought process goes something like this:
1) I want to raise awareness of breast cancer, because evidently I think that nobody has ever heard of it.
2) Breast cancer happens in breasts, and my very own personal breasts are usually in my bra.
3) My women friends also have one or more breasts and thus, often wear bras.
4) Although I am a grown woman who demands and deserves to be taken seriously as the equal of any man, I still tend to think like a 13-year-old girl.
5) Consequently, I believe that grown men think like 13-year-old boys (this is probably the most true part of the whole process).
6) I create a silly “let’s have some fun with the boys” campaign wherein we titillate them by describing the colors of our bras.
7) Other women will join in, because although THEY deserve and demand to be taken seriously as the equal of any man, they, too, still tend to think like 13-year-old girls.
8) Having posted a message about their bra color, women will remember that they, too, have breasts, and will magically understand that the reason they’re titillating “the boys” with this little game about bra color is that breasts sometimes get cancer.
9) “The boys” will wonder what’s going on, and will start making posts that describe the color of their undies (with some large proportion going for “commando”) in a vain attempt to raise awareness of testicular cancer.
10) Women will poke fun at “the boys” because they don’t “get it”.
Rather ignorant to say that this is exclusively a women’s issue. Affect more women than men, yes, but a bit more educated will know that breast cancer affects men as well. But to consider that, one would have to be considerate which may be too much to ask…
