On May 20th 2010, we experienced an attempted hack of our optimum7.com website. We wanted to address this issue as these attacks are getting more frequent since the goal is to generate (pirate) traffic and revenue to another site. The nature of this kind of attack might go unnoticed by a webmaster before it is too late.
There are many ways to construct a website without using regular HTML. Many people now use Content Management Systems, also known as CMS. Some examples of CMS are Joomla, Drupal and WordPress.
Sometimes when Optimum7 takes on a new client, it could be a bittersweet experience. It’s great to have the opportunity to help a client grow, but what could stop that train dead in its tracks is when your new client has CMS baggage. I’m talking about content management baggage from prior website design.
WordPress is a great CMS (Content Management System) that allows the user to blog about their everyday life, business, and /or personal interests. Like many bloggers out there on the web, this is a form of expression and what better way to express one’s self on a blog then with an appealing theme. I personally like a nice clean and sleek theme that exudes elegance such as the fusion theme that can be found at http://dev.digitalnature.ro/fusion/wordpress/. This theme has many good qualities such as good use of white space, interactivity and a good color scheme.
