Predictions for 2010

As I previously wrote in my article “Looking back at the last Decade,” the last ten years have brought us many new technologies that change the way we live today. This blog post will focus on some of the things that I think will be useful to us in the next year.

Great Product Description Tips

There are many factors that go into a successful ecommerce site. Many would say that the design or appeal of the site is the most important, but without Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and quality internet marketing, a site cannot be found, nor can it convert sales. Once design and SEO is in place, how to sell the product becomes the primary focus. Selling an item on the internet means convincing the customer the product they are viewing is the right one.

Twitter Tools for Marketing and Social Strategies

If you type “Twitter Tools” in a search query, you might be bombarded with tools that allow you to add followers to your Twitter account. A tool that helps you add random followers in large numbers might sound like a helpful tool, but I’m more interested in tools that can help me find out more [...]

The GDP is Up, Job Market… Not So Much!

The GDP is up but jobs are still not coming back; it may have a lot to do with perceptions of the consumers. I just noticed that the unemployment rate is now 10.2% … not good. I for one have changed my spending habits and although I’m hearing a lot of better news in regards to the economy I’m still quite reluctant to spend. Is it the same for everyone else; are consumers not comfortable spending?

The Ford Fiesta Movement Campaign is All about Social Media

If you are a business owner and you are still not convinced your company should have a presence in social media, then you need to think again. The Ford Motor Company, the world’s fifth largest automaker and an American company dating back to 1903 has launched a campaign called the “Fiesta Movement”. With the auto consumer trend starting to shift towards more gas efficient models, it makes sense that Ford is bringing back their infamous mini subcompact, the Fiesta. To market the Fiesta, Ford is using a newer form of internet marketing that uses social media as the platform for mass promotion.

Yahoo and Bing Teaming up Against Google

In a move to take some of the momentum away from Google, Microsoft has re-entered their negations with Yahoo. It could potentially “give Microsoft roughly 30 percent share of the online search market.” (AdAge, http://adage.com/digital/article?article_id=138138). For those of us in the search industry, this is some very significant news. What does this mean to internet marketing? and Will we have to make added effort in diversifying our PPC accounts? More importantly, will we no longer only worry about how visible we are in the eyes of Google?

Trending Topics on Twitter

This is a list of recent trending topics on Twitter. Ever wonder why they are number one? To be honest I don’t think I ever participated in one nor have I bothered to click on one. I decided to research the topics by visiting each “forum” and see what people are talking about and why.

Creative Ways to Use Twitter for Business

Funny as it is, the idea from this blog was spawned by a question asked to me by my mother. She is a real-estate agent in Los Angeles, and asked me if she should use Twitter to help grow her business. Without hesitation I said, “Of Course!” There are many ways that business owners and those who are self-employed can use the power of Twitter to their advantage. Twitter provides us with a near limitless platform to reach people in real time; it is really unlike anything out there. From real estate agents, food vendors, book stores, to any business that provides products or services; Twitter can grant you access to a large number of potential customers who already have the intent to spend.

Why Branding is Important – Bruno vs. Harry Potter

Last Friday Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie Bruno came out and topped box offices with a whopping $30.4 Million, only to see diminishing returns for the remainder of the weekend. It is unusual that a movie begins to drop just the day after, but in Bruno’s case it did. The newest installment of the Harry Potter series opened this past Wednesday with an unheard of $104 million worldwide, with more people expected to see it this coming weekend. Despite Bruno not having great success after its opening day compared to Harry Potter’s unrivaled success, both of these movies have one glaring commonality; both of these film’s online reviews were negative.

As of now, Ashton Kutcher has over 2.4 million followers on Twitter and counting. He has the most followers out of any Twitter account, outpacing the next person (Ellen DeGeneres) by almost 300,000.
