Larry Page is the New CEO of Google – Will Google Go Wild?
So it’s finally happened, huh? Eric Schmidt has announced his rumored year-pending decision to step down and relinquish his title (and responsibility) of Google CEO to Co-Founder, Larry Page, while he finds home in the position of Executive Chairman. According to the Wall Street Journal "The transition has long been contemplated, according to a person familiar with the matter, and planning for it accelerated last year." According to Schmidt these new changes are brought about to “clarify individual roles so there is clear responsibility and accountability at the top of the company.” Schmidt will now primarily focus on deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership while Page handles the day-to-day operations and Co-Founder Sergey Brin will work on strategic projects. It’s Schmidt’s belief that reasons for the switching and delegating of roles is "simplifying management structure and speed up decision making."
